Meet The Face Behind Birch Accounting & Tax Services Ltd.
I’m Amanda Birch, proud founder of Birch Accounting & Tax Services Ltd.
I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.
Matthew and I started this business in March 2006 as a means of providing flexibility to our lives so that we could work around our children and their activities. We chose this industry due to our educational background in accounting and business, and while Matthew doesn't work for Birch Accounting he does provide significant support to our hectic household.
Before starting Birch Accounting & Tax Services Ltd., I worked for London Drugs for ten years, originally in electronic sales and management at store level and ending up at the head office in merchandising administration.
Initially, our business was entirely in paper format, and we were attached to our desktop computers for software access. There was no flexibility of the when or where. Every client had to be met in person, or the paperwork would have had to be shipped to back and forth.
Now, with the power of technology (QBO, Hubdoc, Receipt Bank, our client portal) our team can work from anywhere, clients can send us their documents from any location, and instead of only servicing the city we reside in, clients are from coast to coast and even in other countries.
Our business philosophy is to empower business owners (and individuals) in their financial matters by removing confusion, fear, and uncertainty and replacing it with clarity, freedom, and control.
I enjoy finding solutions to my clients’ problems. Whether it’s finding the right merchant processing platform or reviewing cash flow and coming up with creative ways to get income flowing correctly, a problem is just a puzzle that needs solving.
Our business success is solely due to our clients. They show their appreciation for our work when they recommend us to their friends by explaining how wonderful their experience was when we solved a CRA issue or provided them with feedback on how to save money or time in their business.
Downtime is spent with our large family - five kids who have activities that start as soon as school ends! Two of them are in hockey which equates to four or five ice slots a week. Two are in Tae Kwon Do and are at the gym three to five times a week depending on if they’re gearing up for tests or tournaments. The youngest isn’t signed up for anything yet but loves to watch her big brothers do what they like and insists that she can do it too!
As for myself, I take time to read or crochet during the kids’ practices, listen to podcasts and webinars while I get my monthly massage, I have a ton of Pinterest projects pinned that are screaming my name!
I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
If you or someone you know could benefit from our expertise in accounting, bookkeeping or tax services in Leduc, Alberta or Surrey, BC, I invite you to get in touch. Please visit my website at www.birchaccounting.ca

Amanda
